My first MUN experience was HMUN in 9th grade. 20/08/2026 was Day 1. I was not well acquainted with what had to be done and did not speak up very often. As the delegate of Germany, I joined the EU bloc, having voted for topic A: Imprisonment of political dissidents. It was pretty confusing. Gave my name as a signatory in 2 other blocs, and in the end joined a completely different bloc. No clue as to what I had to do; I just joined to get recognition in the committee. Did not give a speech; I found the courage and waited for the next one. How and which speech to deliver was the unknown. But I had made up my mind to raise my placard no matter what.
It was day 3, committee session 4, and we were getting feedback for the second time. I was encouraged and directed to give a speech in the session because I had only given 1 at the time. Just my luck, no mods. I waited for the last session to begin. And then, delivered a speech, not as good as I had imagined, though. At least it was worth a try. Experience is precious, with and without an award. Some friendships last longer than others. As I woke up and headed to breakfast on the last day of the event, I recognised an old classmate of mine. Laahiba was in my class for 4 years before COVID. I was meeting her after a long-time. We had passed by each other in school but didn’t talk much as we were in different sections.
There were a few other classmates of mine as well. Meeting them was a great surprise. You never truly forget someone. Their essence remains in your heart, and all you have to do is find it. Of course, I spent most of my time in Jaipur with my current classmates; however, every moment should be cherished, no matter how short.
